The Mongol rally has always been about giving back and raising awareness for specific charities. In the past the Adventurists have raised money for Send a Cow, Save the Children, Mercy Corps, CAMDA, Wild Cru or the Christina Noble Children's Foundation. This year the Adventurists are staying with Cool Earth as their chosen official charity. To show the size of the charitable aspect, rally teams had raised over £16,000,000 for charity by 2011. Since starting to support Cool Earth in 2013, the Adventurists have raised £1,500,000 for Cool Earth alone. This figure is increasing as more teams join each year.
The rally organisers have very limited rules, however 1 of the 3 rules is that each team must raise a minimum of £1,000 for charity. £500 of this goes this year to Cool Earth. We, however, want to raise more than this and so have set our goal for a more healthy total of £6,000.
We are all extremely passionate about our charities and reflect personal experiences and beliefs. Team Rallygators would therefore be extremely grateful to any donation you may be able to offer to these two fantastic charities.
Cool Earth is a charity organisation that works alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation and its impact on climate change. They achieve this through sharing the most effective conservation methods around the world and invests in those with the potential for best outcomes for people and rainforest. Innovation is the key to scaling up rapid rainforest protection and the lessons learned in one partnership can often be applied to benefit another. With over 18 million acres of forestry destroyed on a global scale each year, restoration and conservation have never been more important in creating a stable and sustainable environment for us all to thrive in and is an ever increasing topic of conversation amongst global governments. The Adventurists so far have helped save 25,549 acres of rainforest which has protected 6,131,756 trees which has 'locked' in 6,642,735 tonnes of CO2.
Young Minds are leading the fight for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered, whatever the challenges. Their aim is to make sure young people get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s difficulties. The crisis in children and young people’s mental health is real and it is urgent. More children and young people than ever before are reaching out for help with their mental health. But for those who take that brave step, help is much too hard to find. In 2018 suicide claimed the lives of 730 under 25 year olds battling mental issues making it the second largest killer of that age bracket. Mental illnesses effect far too many people with the number ever growing and in our opinion everyone deserves to be happy. Young Minds is a charity very close to our hearts as we have all had personal experiences with friends and family members struggling with mental issues.
